Hana Rauscher

December 6, 1915 - June 12, 2013

COOPERSTOWN - Hana Rauscher, a resident of the Village of Cooperstown, died Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013, at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls. She was 97.

Born December 6, 1915, in Kraslava, Latvia, she was a daughter of Leon and Masha Leizerach, who were victims of the Holocaust.  

Raised in Latvia, she studied in Italy where she graduated from The University of Bologna. She later moved to England where she was employed as a financial controller in Richmond at the family hotels. She had a life-long commitment to community service and was a member of the Royal Women's Voluntary Service (WRVS). After moving to Cooperstown she was active as a volunteer for Bassett Healthcare and was an avid Bridge player. 

Hana is survived by one son, Andrew Rauscher, MD and his wife, Jocelyn, of Richfield Springs; one daughter, Marya Parker of England; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Pilarin, Jemma, Daniel and Annabel; and seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Alex, Laura, Liam, Maeve, Emily, and Brendan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Albert Dale Rauscher and her sister, Sonia.

Jennie S. Buffett

August 23, 1930 - June 10, 2013

HARTWICK - Jennie S. Buffett passed away Monday evening, June 10, 2013, at Otsego Manor in Cooperstown.  

Jennie was born August 23, 1930, in East Northport.

On Easter Sunday, April 17, 1948, she married Earl Buffett, Jr. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of East Northport.  

Jennie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl Buffett, Jr., of Hartwick; their five children and fifteen grandchildren: Sandra Schecher and her husband, Henry J. Schecher III, of Cooperstown, and their daughters, Emily and husband Eric Liston, Amanda Schecher and Charlotte Lermer; Bruce Buffett of Norfolk, Virginia, and his children, Erin and husband Brandon Redden, Matthew Buffett and Anne Buffett; Lynda Morris and her husband, David A. Morris, of Traverse City, Michigan, and their daughters, Adelia Morris, Victoria Morris, and Madelyn Morris; Laurie Kearns and her husband, Gary Kearns, of Cooperstown and their son Peter Kearns; and Lisa Leslie and her husband, Edwin Leslie, of Fly Creek, and their children, Jessica and husband Christopher Miller, Samantha Leslie, Jeffrey Leslie, Margaret Leslie and Michael Leslie; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Jennie was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters. 

A Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the Life of Jennie S. Buffett, will take place at 1 o'clock in the afternoon of Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Christ Church, Cooperstown. The Office of the Burial of the Dead with Holy Eucharist will be offered by The Rev'd Dr John Dixon Bartle, rector of St. John's Church, Richfield Springs.

The Committal Service and burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery, Cooperstown, with The Rev'd Dr Bartle officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to the Christ Church All Souls Fund, 69 Fair Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
