Forrest J. "Frosty" Misner, Jr.

1936 - 2016

FLY CREEK - Forrest J. "Frosty" Misner, Jr., of Bissell Road, Fly Creek, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 17, 2016, at his home, surrounded by the comfort of his family. He was 80.

Born May 8, 1936, in Sidney, Frosty was the only child of Forrest J. and Doris (Walker) Misner. Raised in Sidney, he was Baptized at the Sidney Methodist Church and graduated from Sidney High School.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and was a member of the Sgt. Walter P. Eggleston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7128 in Cooperstown.

Following his military service, Frosty found his way to the Cooperstown area and for many years was employed as a lineman for New York State Electric and Gas.

In his leisure he loved spending time on Otsego Lake, and especially enjoyed time spent with friends on his pontoon boat at the former Brookwood Garden docks in Cooperstown.

Frosty is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan Worsthorn Misner; two daughters, Terry Huebner and husband, Conrad, of Glenville, and Cindy Misner of Nazareth, Pennsylvania; and a grandson, Jonathan Mestyanek of Albany.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home, 82 Chestnut Street, Cooperstown from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016. A memorial service will be offered at the funeral home at 7 p.m. that evening, with the Rev. Betsy Jay, Chaplain at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, officiating. At the conclusion of the service, Military Honors will be accorded by members of the Sgt. Walter P. Eggleston VFW Post No. 7128 and the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard.

Sean R. Streek

1969 - 2016

COOPERSTOWN - Sean Ronald Streek, 47, of Cooperstown, died unexpectedly Saturday night, June 11, 2016.  

He was born March 25, 1969, in Cooperstown, the son of Ronald Max and Robelle Edith (Polson) Streek.

A 1988 graduate of Cooperstown Central School, Sean attended Nazareth College and later earned a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta.

From 2009-2010 he served in the United States Army, and for a time was a Probation Officer for Otsego County.

In his leisure, Sean enjoyed sailing, and on the day he died was part of the Niagara Frontier 2016 District Thistle Regatta hosted by the Otsego Sailing Club on Otsego Lake.

Sean is survived by his wife, Betsy Streek, whom he married June 14, 2014; a daughter, Sydnie Streek; two step children, Matt and Jenny Burch; his mother and father, Ron and Susie Streek; three sisters, Sandy Toms of Virginia, Annette Voreyer and husband, Robert, and children, Nicholas and Thomas, of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Patricia Klink and husband, Michael, and children Haley and Westley, of Lebanon, Indiana; his mother and father-in-law, Linda and Bob Schuermann; and a brother-in-law, Matthew Schuermann and wife, Maureen, and their family. 

A Memorial Service will be offered at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown, with the Rev. Elsie Armstrong Rhodes, pastor, officiating.  At the conclusion of the service, Military Honors will be accorded by the New York State Military Funeral Forces Honor Guard. Sean will be laid to rest at a later date in Hartwick Seminary Cemetery.
