BURLINGTON FLATS – Barbara Ann Walter, beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, and cherished member of the family, passed away on May 19, 2026, at the age of 55 from metastatic colon cancer, diagnosed in December 2023.
Born July 24th, 1970, in Mt. Kisco, NY, Barb lived a life
filled with kindness and compassion to those she loved. Barb brought warmth and
her infectious laughter into every room. Barb will be remembered for her
generous spirit, caring heart, and unwavering support to family and friends, as
her presence touched countless lives.
Barb was married to the love of her life, Jeff, on July 30,
1994, at the Big Moose Community Chapel in Eagle Bay, NY. They have two
children, Curtis and Jacob, who she cherished greatly. Her sister, Patricia
Zamperlin, husband Frank, and son Vitaly, her brothers-in-law Robert, Greg
(Colleen), Edward (Sandy), & sister-in-law Joan Noe (Andrew), along with
many cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends, especially Joanna Bellhouse
who helped tremendously at the end of Barb’s earthly life, will miss her greatly.
Barb graduated from SUNY Morrisville in 1991 with a degree in Liberal Arts and
in 1992 she graduated with a degree in Music Business from Five Towns College,
Long Island, NY. Barb loved a wide variety of music and concerts and had many
(many) family pets along the way. Barb had a gift for quilting and all sorts of
crafts, and loved Legos. During Barb's time of chemo infusions at the hospital,
she would make Lego kits and bring a smile to the staff and countless patients,
and many of those creations are displayed at their home. The family enjoyed
spending weekends, summers, and holidays at the family camp on Big Moose Lake
in the Adirondacks. Barb had a love of life and she touched everyone who she
met. She will be missed by many. She was predeceased by her parents, John and
Diane Vander Veer.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary’s “Our Lady of the Lake” Roman Catholic Church, 31 Elm St. Cooperstown, NY,
with Fr. Michael Cambi presiding at 11 a.m. on Saturday May 23rd. Family
and friends are invited to gather in honor of a life beautifully lived. A
luncheon will follow. Though she is no longer with us in person, her love and
legacy will remain in our hearts always.
