Jon J. Dangl

October 14, 1955 - July 29, 2013

BURLINGTON - Jon Joseph Dangl, a former communications engineer for Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at his home in the Town of Burlington. He was 57.

Born October 14, 1955, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of the late James Alan and Joan Carol (Smith) Dangl.  

After graduating from high school he attended Mohawk Valley Community College and earned an associate degree in communications. After living for a time in Florida he moved back to the Cooperstown area in the 1980s. For twenty-three years he was employed as a Communications Engineer for Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, retiring in October 2011.

Jon possessed a love for aviation and enjoyed attending air shows and flying radio controlled planes with his sons. Through the years he also had a love for dogs, and had a soft spot for his current pet, George.

While living in this area Jon was a member, at various times, of the emergency squads in Fly Creek, Schuyler Lake and Hartwick.

Jon is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean M. Dangl of Springfield Center; his four children, Jon Benjamin Dangl and his wife, April, of Burlington, Vermont, Nicholas Wayne Owings Dangl and Danielle Rosner of California, James Stoller Dangl and Susan Clark of Cooperstown and Melissa Ann Johnson of Laurens; two grandchildren, Jazlyn Marie Lawton and Leon Marble Summers; one sister, Jean Carolyn Henning and her husband, Joseph, of Dayton, Ohio and their children, Jessica Lynn Henning and Jonathan Michael Henning.

Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 1-2 p.m.

At the conclusion of the visitation on Friday, a Memorial Service will be offered at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald Fralick officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the Fly Creek Emergency Squad, P. O. Box 218, Fly Creek, NY 13337.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
