Mary L. Clinton

May 13, 1952 - August 26, 2013

COOPERSTOWN - Mary L. Clinton, "Mother Mary", a longtime and well-loved resident of the Cooperstown area, passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2013, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with her loving family by her side. She was 61 years old.

Born May 13, 1952, in Herkimer County, Mary was the daughter of the late Albert Andrew and Florence (Clements) Loomis. In her youth she attended Richfield Springs Central School.  

Mary devoted her life to her children and did everything she could to provide for them. Through the years she was employed at many places throughout the Cooperstown area. At one time she worked for W. L. Taylor & Son as a counter clerk at the Village Tower and later at America's Game on Main Street in Cooperstown. She will be remembered for her outgoing and friendly nature. 

Mary is survived by her husband of 29 years, Dale Clinton, of Fly Creek; two daughters, Cynthia R. Shepard and her fiance, Brian Hascup and his chldren Alex and Brady, of Cooperstown and Laura Ann Smith and her husband, Jeffrey, of Edmeston; two sons, Patrick Shepard and his wife, Kim Johannesen, of Cooperstown and Sean Clinton of Cooperstown; six grandchildren, Shelby McLean, Amanda Burgher and her husband, Jason, Chelsey McMichael and her husband Tyler, Cendra Crawford, and Jordan and Eric Loucks; three great grandchildren Emma, Lyndon and Jacob; and two sisters, Susan O'Hare and her husband Wesley of Odessa, MO and Kathy Waro and her husband Michael of Cooperstown. She is further survived by her first husband, David Shepard and his wife Susan of Fly Creek; several nieces, nephews, aunts uncles and cousins and many beloved friends.

Friends are invited to call to pay their respects at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown on Friday, August 30, 2013, from 5-7 PM when Mary's family will be in attendance.  

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11 AM in the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery in Fly Creek, with the Rev'd Paul Hunter, Curate of Christ Church in Cooperstown, officiating. Following the service there will be a reception at the Fly Creek Grange Hall on Cemetery Road in Fly Creek.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
